Joel McWhorter
President / Creative Director
As a founding partner and creative director of the McComm Group, Joel brings a rare combination of creative talent and business savvy to the table. He leads the team’s strategic marketing focus for clients with a big-picture, where-do-we-go-from-here perspective and an uncanny ability to drill down to the details that take the creative from a good concept to an effective execution that delivers for the client.
Developing brand strategies and long-range plans to help clients move logically and affordably to the next level is one of Joel’s strengths. Ensuring the agency continues to evolve to deliver the ever-changing marketing tools that help customers achieve the plan has been one of Joel’s philosophy for our success and our customers’ success.
Being active in the community comes second nature to Joel. He has served as marketing chairman for the Calhoun College Foundation board and has served as a graphic arts instructor at the school. He has over 10 year of service as a deacon at First Bible Church of Decatur and is a past chairman of the board. Joel was awarded the 2000 Small Business Person of the Year from the Decatur/Morgan County Chamber of Commerce and is past president of the Carnegie Visual Arts Center. With numerous honors and awards to his credit, including the Tennessee Valley Advertising Federation’s Special Judges Award and Illustrator of the Year, Joel brings creative vision to reality.
A bit of a Renaissance Man, Joel is a gifted fine artist as well as a talented graphic designer and photographer. He can build a house, lay tile, and whistle, too. When he’s not at the office, you might find him relaxing at home with a fishing rod in hand.
